Ted resided in Oak Harbor, the town of his birth.
Ted was the Salutatorian in his Oak Harbor High School class of 1951.
He graduated with honors from Whitworth College with a degree in
Business Administration. He attended the University of Washington
School of Law where he was associate editor of the Law Review. He was
admitted to the Order of the Coif and graduated in 1957. He
immediately returned to Oak Harbor where he has enjoyed the practice
of law.
Ted has served as president of the Island County Bar Association and
has been a member of the Board of Governors of the Washington State
Bar Association. He is also a member of the Washington State Trial
Lawyers Association.
He was admitted to practice in both State and Federal courts,
including the United States Supreme Court.
Ted emphasized the following areas of law in his practice:
He had experience in handling complex litigation matters including class actions, corporate receivership cases and partnership dissolution cases. He regularly assisted clients in forming new business ventures. He handled scores of appeals to appellate court. Ted died in an airplane crash on September 12, 2001.
Ed and his wife, Cheryl, reside near Oak Harbor, the town of his
birth. His maternal grandfather (Charlie Nienhuis) came to North
Whidbey in 1895. His father, Egbert Beeksma, came to North Whidbey in
about 1910. Ed and Cheryl have three daughters.
Ed graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1959. He attended Everett
Junior College for one year and transferred to the University of
Washington majoring in Engineering. In 1962 he was admitted to the
University of Washington School of Law and graduated with his Juris
Doctor degree in June 1965. After passing the bar in the fall of 1965
he was admitted to practice in the State of Washington in September
1965. Ed has continuously had offices for the private practice of law
in Oak Harbor since 1965. He served as part-time Prosecuting Attorney
for Island County from 1968 to 1972.

Michael M. Waller has been engaged in the general practice of
law in Oak Harbor, Washington since 1975. His practice emphasizes
Family Law including Dissolution of Marriage and Adoption, Personal
injury claims, Business formation and assistance including corporations
and partnerships, Estate Planning, Criminal defense, Bankruptcy
and General Civil Litigation. Mr. Waller received both a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics (1972) and his Law degree (1975) from the University of Washington where he became a member of Phi Beta Kappa, played varsity baseball and was affiliated with the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.
Mr. Waller is admitted to practice before the Washington State
Supreme Court and The United States District Court for the Western
District of Washington. He is a two-term past president of the
Island County Bar Association, member of the Washington State
Bar Association, the Washington Trial Lawyer's Association and
has served on the Island county Citizens Committee for Juvinile
Court Corrections, the City of Oak Harbor Oral Interview Board
for police officer candidates, and the Evergreen Legal Services
Advisory Board.
Community projects and activities with which Mr. Waller is involved
include eight years on the Oak Harbor School District Board of
directors (1983 -91), life-time member of the Oak Harbor Navy
League Council, Chair of the Oak Harbor Excellence in Education
Committee, Vice President of the Oak Harbor Education Foundation,
Help House food bank Board member, Skagit Valley College Vocational
Advisory Committee member, Vice President of the Oak Harbor High
School Booster Club, Oak Harbor Baseball Association Board member,
and American Legion Baseball coach.
